So last year.. all throughout Kindergarten Garrett would come home telling me the person that lost a tooth today in class.. and why hasn't he lost any yet.. he was so bummed.. a couple of weeks ago we went to the dentist and the x-ray showed his big teeth were right there.. so he should be losing some soon.. the dentist tech said "within the next couple of months would be my guess"... Garrett was super excited.. I tried to get a wiggle out of his bottom teeth, but they weren't budging! So I told him maybe in 1st grade he will lose a tooth.. be patient!
So the other morning.. I was upstairs getting ready... and the boys were acting crazy and play fighting {nothing new there} and at this point.. I was like why yell at them for it.. some one will get hurt and that will show them right.. ugh!!! So Garrett comes running up and his mouth has crazy blood coming out of it.. he isn't sure if he should cry.. or get excited.. kind of in shock.. telling me his tooth came out.. so I looked and sure enough there was no tooth there.. so we went downstairs.. he showed me where they were wrestling.. and I picked up the blanket on the floor nearby and sure enough his little tooth was there... we gargled some salt water and all was good! {still unsure if they learned their lesson on playing too rough.. I doubt it!!!}
Then came the questions of concern from Garrett.. he was worried that he was never going to talk again {which is hilarious.. cause that is soooooo me! and I did say that as well as a child!}.. and then came.. what if I lost my tooth too early.. and what if another one isn't going to grow in concern.. so I had to kinda pry out what really happened downstairs before the story came out.. they were playing rough and apparently Drew kicked Garrett in the face.. and the tooth came out... and there was a pretty wiggly next door neighbor of that bottom tooth as well.. hmmmmmm {maybe now have they learned their lesson.. did this by chance.. all work out in my favor.. will they stop being crazy lion cubs all day long.. doubt it!}.. but it worked for the day.. Garrett decided he needed to just lay low for the day cause his mouth hurt.
That night the tooth fairy came to visit.. and gave Garrett $5 and plus a gift bag of mouthwash.. floss.. and toothpaste.. with a note saying how important it is to brush your teeth everyday.. especially now since his permanent teeth were coming in... he was soooo excited.... that next morning we rushed off to spend his $5 and he bought a cartoon movie {super hero thing.. I think it was avengers, but I can't remember now}
So the next few days pass and the bottom tooth's neighbor got more and more wiggly.. until one morning.. Garrett showed me the tooth.. it was almost out.. I told him to just pull it out.. and he said ok.. the next thing I knew it was out! So exciting.. the tooth fairy visited us twice in 1 week.. but this time she only left $2 which I hear is the going rate for a tooth {whew glad its not $5 or else we would have a ton of those $5 Target cartoon movies!}
The kids now have figured out that Garrett lost his tooth cause it was his time.. not cause of the rough play.. so they are back at it.. no major lessons learned.. except of course that the tooth fairy is super awesome.. we have had a ton of questions about that! oh and tears.. Drew was scared of the tooth fairy at first.. love that kid!!!!
Here is my toothless tough football player!
